Karen Bass has beaten real estate developer Rick Caruso to become mayor of Los Angeles, AP can report. Bass will become the first woman to be mayor of Los Angeles.The race has garnered widespread attention as the most expensive mayor’s contest in city history. According to the Los Angeles City Ethics Commission, Caruso spent over $100 million compared to Bass at just under $10 million.
